Possible Sketches

In this part of my sketches i will describe the problems with each sketch.

The one above is actually my prototype design and proved best even after its unfair base.
The top one actually provides to little area for the structure to be nailed doen.
Air pressure had no actual place to stay in due to all of the holes.
This one actually had the smallest structure of all and barely had a place for the bottle to set on.
This last image was fairly too weak, it had no strong base and was very weak and could not hold the bottle.

Global Market Analysis

There is no global market such as being a known big company. However the water rocket launcher does sale as a crafty project. The launcher is a very important addition to understanding the rockets in general. The global market stretches everywhere and even online. Anyone can buy this simple kit ranging from $10 to $150. The project is simply constructing the kit but its not that easy. This type of kit can be found at your local Wal-Mart, any craft shop and especially online. There is nothing special or difficult about getting the rocket. Anyone with the appropriate age of buying can get this product.

History and Events

The water rocket launcher has a long history.  The Water rocket revolutionized the 20th century ideals about rockets. They provided use for the invention of actual water rockets. They further more helped us understand the use of actual rockets. There were many achievements that led to the creation of historic events for the Water rockets.
In reality there is no actual date which traces to the creation of the water rocket. I have found no online citation for who invented the water rocket, but a few hours spent searching in the US Patent Office archives yielded some interesting evidence. There are a large number of patents relating to toy rockets and guns, including the famous Park Plastics 2-stage water rocket. Patents before 1972 are not searchable for text, so this is a very slow process.
These past patents may not be water rocket themselves but they do actually provide the same function. They are both powered by the gas pressure of life and they provide thrust through the propelling of water. These patents were mainly used for underwater purposes and do not imitate the water rocket design. The water rocket patents came about in the 20th century as I have said before.
After the creation of these rockets, the modern age found a new way to make recreational events out of this. People would soon create festivals to actually celebrate the events in general. People would be willing to actually launch the rockets into the air to celebrate the matter. Nothing important happened except that this helped change the lives of many people.
Records would be broken. People stride to make the highest launched rocket possible. Others would launch s many rockets as they could into the air. These people aimed to make new records and make a name for themselves. In history the highest altitude reached was of 2044 ft. This was marked by a rocket which was averaged from two flights. There was a camera on top to provide the air view of the flights accomplishment.

Operation and its application

The Bottle is partly filled with water and then it is sealed. The bottle is then pressured with gas and in this case it’s usually from a bicycle pump and this is what I will be using. The water and the gas in the bottle are used as a combination. The gas provides the means for it to contain the potential energy and it is compressible. The gas in the water increases its mass fraction (the amount of mass left behind such as the stages of rockets) and allows for the rocket to go higher. Through my research I have learned that there are other substances that I can add to the bottle so that it can fly to a higher distance. Such items included could be salt which increases the density and results in a higher specific impulse.
Creating a rocket is very tricky. When it comes to designing a real rocker the nozzle is what allows for thrust so that the rocket can be pushed into the sky. In my water rocket the seal on the nozzle of the rocket is then released and the water releases at great speeds until the propellant has been used up and the air pressure inside the rocket declines to atmospheric pressure, this meaning that it no longer has any pressure applied to it. A law which explains why the bottle sprite to a great distance is Newton’s third law. This law explains that there are always opposite and equal reactions to each and every reaction, thus explaining the idea why the rocket is able to be launched into the sky at such a high altitude. The usual pressure ranges from 75 to 150 psi. Of course the more pressure that the bottle has stored in , the more that it will increase in altitude. Another law which I have learned about in chemistry is the Boyles law. This law states that as pressure increases volume decreases. Though the volume decreases this does not mean that it will lose its potential energy, on the contrary it energy increases, thus producing a more kinetic energy.

Proposal

My proposal is simple. My objective was to reach a certain altitude, an altitude well above 100 ft.  This was accomplished after many errors and fixes had been made to my project. Nothing mattered more to me than actually getting the rocket to work and not launch upon the pressure of air had made instant impact. To actually explain my proposal I simply wanted to make sure that the launcher worked properly. Due to the fact that I did not have a parachute, my other proposal was to launch the rocket straight into the sky with no difficulties at all.

Introduction

The Project overall was a very interesting topic. Through this paper I will explain the main topics of the Water Rocket Launcher. The project itself consisted of background information and its research. The knowledge must have had included history All of this must have been represented through a fully design research paper such as the one you are reading yourself. The project went through a long process of information and time consuming building. The actual prototype took trial and errors. It was a while before the prototype achieved perfection. In this paper you will also read through the problems that I encountered in trying to build the prototype. I will include my proposal, my research and investigation and the solutions that I though could have been a possible. In the end I only chose one solution. This solution is represented by the solid isometric design and its matrix. Not only will this but I explain to you how the launcher worked in detail. The launcher was my final prototype and you will be informed of the errors that I encountered when actually placing the motion into effect. The prototype at the end was a success.

My Video

I learned many things from building this project. I basically learned how a rocket was built through a water rocket launcher. It took time to build this project. I learned how psi or air pressure played a part in the role of the launcher. The launcher itself was a very important product of the project. I learned how thrust and airlift all played a role in the work of the project. It was very hard for me to realize how everything worked together when i first took a glance. after reading the instructions and obtaining information, i learned how to build the rocket. I came close to building the rocket in the end and when i finally did, there were some problems. i had an issue with correctly sealing the pipes to prevent the gas from escaping. i also had an issue with releasing the bottle into the air. After witnessing this, i asked myself what could i have done better. I wish that i had used better and proper adhesive/ All of this you will see in the video.

April 19, 2012

I am nearing the end of my project. Now what i have left to do is upload the results. This will be expected in my next day that i am in here. The reason for me not posting on the blog is due to the fact that i wanted to get everything done in time. Rest assured that everything will be turned in when it is necessary. During the next week i also expect to upload the video of my final prototype as well.

Today what i did today was creat more sketches about what my project will end up looking like. I am pleased to say that i have made 6 sketches. Later on i will get a scanner to upload these images.

My project is about building a water rocket launcher. It’s important to me, because it helps me understand a little bit of how the real rockets work. I believe that this can help manage society by giving us new ways to increase acceleration. There aren’t really any other projects that have any similarities to mines, other than those that consist of real rockets. What’s inspiring the work to me is all of the physics behind the project.

I believe that I can learn many things from this project such as learning how pressure can make rockets work. I’ll need to produce a rocket with a valve where air can go in. I also know that there must be pipes where the air can go through and a mechanism where the rocket or bottle can stay while the pressure is building up. I will present a PowerPoint and all of the information in the blog to my fellow classmates. I know that the only way this can be a success is if the bottle in fact reaches over an altitude of over 100 ft.

I plan to achieve the objectives that I have outlined only through dedication and hard work. I need to do library work, in other words I need to do investigative research. When I gather the data, I must make sure that every field is covered. I plan by doing this through the help of the internet interface and a few books on this subject. There is no true statistical data; however I must make sure the data is understandable to understand the work behind the prototype once constructed. I will make this project come to life and record with all fun and devotion the result.

Proposal

My proposal is to make the Water Rocket Launcher. The reason for me choosing this design is because i want to create something that provides force and ive always been interested in rockets. I believe this is an excellent chance to create a working model myself. My working prototype when done is expected to be similar to the following picture.
